National Ride A Bike Day

May 3

Overview

The League of American Bicyclists has been celebrating National Bike Month since 1956 (70 years!) and that includes National Ride A Bike Day on the first Sunday of May.

If you haven't taken a ride on a bicycle in a while, give it a try and remember how much fun you had when you were a kid and the feeling of freedom and independence that learning to ride a bicycle brought you. In most cases, you can hop on a bicycle rather than jump into a car to get where you need to go. After all, the average motor vehicle trip in the U.S. is 3 miles or less and the average bicycle trip is about 2.4 miles.
