Overview
As part of the Goal: Zero initiative, aggressive local enforcement synchronizes with the National Highway Safety Administration (NHSTA) nationwide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Drive High, Get a DUI" winter enforcement campaign, which runs through January 1. Hitting the roads aggressively on this Friday aligns local departments with the national media blitz, multiplying the deterrent effect.
"Blackout Wednesday" enforcement will be dedicated to the memory of Patrolman Jason Marles (Badge 271, End Of Watch, November 25, 2010), who was killed by a drunk driver on the Garden State Parkway while driving home to his family after completing a drunk driving enforcement detail in Ocean Gate.
